Foradada is a municipality in the region of La Noguera, in the Segre East comprising five urban areas. Foradada, which is the capital, Montsonís, Marcovau, Rubió de Dalt, Rubió del Mig i Rubió de Baix. Within its boundaries there are also the sanctuary of Salgar, located in a gorge of the river Segre, near Montsonís.
The municipality of Foradada covers an area of 28.55 km 2 and is bounded on the west and north with the term of Alòs de Balaguer, the N and E with Artesa de Segre, also in the east of the enclave Montclar, the municipality of Agramunt (Urgell), with the S Preixens and Montgai, and W with Cubells. Holes extends from the north, on the left bank of the Segre (dividing with Artesa de Segre) to the Bank of Zion. Crossing the town the C-26 Balaguer Artesa de Segre, whose various branches that lead out to the peoples of the term.
The northern part is rugged Sierra del Munt (596 m), with the source of Munt, where the villages Montsonís and Rubió and the shrine of Salgar, near the caves of Salgar; between them and the Head (410 m) flows, through the Strait of Salgar, the Salt ravine. In the southern part of the term are softer reliefs of the Sierra de Montclar (regions of the Comes Hill and the Fountain with altitudes above 470 m). Part of the area is irrigated by the big drought of Canal d'Urgell.
